It is surprising how little test equipment you need to get going in wireless repair, you will find it is not the cost, but the knowledge that is the problem!  This page features the most common items of test equipment required, together with a brief description of their usage.  The menu starts with safety, because that is by far the most important aspect.  Dangerous voltages are found within valve wireless receivers.  Do not attempt to service valve equipment without training or the appropriate skill level.
