Graves
Shown here is a Graves receiver from about 1937. I
don't know the model number of this set, though it is in the same cabinet  as
the "Aerial AC Superhet" of about the same time. The AC receiver
appeared in two versions, one with B5 valves and one with E series valves. The
battery version shown turns up much less frequently than the AC models. J.G.
Graves actually started quite early in the radio business, with sets available
as early as 1925, namely their "Vulcan". Their receivers were made in
Sheffield, but the company had ceased production by WWII, and never returned.
Very little background information survives from J.G. Graves today. The HT
battery and accumulator were placed on the shelf in the upper half of the
