Ekco works in
Southend today (2008)
The
top three of images on this page are of the Ekco site taken on 16th July
2008. The site is securely fenced off with metal panels, windows are
boarded up, and the valuable lead covering has already been stripped from the
top storey of the building. Behind the facade (picture right) demolition
is already firmly in progress to the buildings towards the rear of the site.

Now
back at the site on August 13th, and most of the frontage of the building has
also gone. Only each end of the frontage remains, plus the impressive
sandstone entrance (upper right picture) to the building. One presumes
this remains pending reclamation purposes. The picture to the right shows
the cross section of building remaining at one end of the frontage.
Apparently the site will eventually become a housing estate.
